Global IoT connected devices will be more than 30 billion by 2024 from around 15 billion in 2021. 5G, WiFi 6, LPWANs and edge computing will catalyse IoT growth. Smart home devices, wearables, connected vehicles and appliances are expected to become popular among consumers. Manufacturing and supply chain and other operational aspects will remain important areas where businesses will seek to implement IoT solutions such as avoiding machine breakdowns. There will also be more smart cities, especially where integrating sensor networks for things like traffic and security. However, IoT has to face security and privacy challenges.
